Supported Internship Programme Coach - London

Permanent: Full-time 37.5 hours per week

£42,796 per annum + excellent benefits.

Change lives. Shape futures. Lead with purpose.

Every year, hundreds of young people with learning disabilities face barriers to getting into work. At Mencap, we believe they deserve the chance to shine — and that’s where you come in.

We’re looking for an inspirational Supported Internship Programme Coach to lead our Supported Employment programmes across London. This full-time, permanent position (37.5 hours per week) offers you the chance to oversee a programme that transforms potential into achievement — giving young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) the skills, confidence, and experience to move into paid work.

Ready to make a real difference in young people’s futures?

Do you have experience delivering Supported Internships to young people with learning disability?

Are you confident in navigating Ofsted requirements?

Do you have a genuine passion for empowering people with learning disabilities?

If the answer is yes, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

Mencap is looking for a passionate and self-motivated Supported Internship Programme Coach to lead our Supported Employment programmes in London.

Our mission? To help young people with a learning disability (up to age 25) who have an Education, Health and Care Plan take that all-important step into paid work. Most of the programme happens in real workplaces, with Mencap supporting learners to boost their Maths and English skills along the way — building their confidence, independence, and employability.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading the delivery of the programme, ensuring it meets our curriculum, Ofsted, and Department for Education (DfE) standards.
  • Managing budgets and resources effectively to ensure maximum impact.
  • Using quality frameworks to track and improve programme success.
  • Line-managing Programme Coordinators, who in turn oversee local teams of Tutors, Job Coaches, and Employer Engagement Officers.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders, from Local Authorities to employers, schools, and colleges.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in managing large projects — ideally in SEND and employability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to develop partnerships and maintain professional relationships.
  • Strong budget management skills, with the ability to secure additional funding.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices.
  • Confidence in driving quality, compliance, and accurate reporting.

Why join Mencap?
