Magdalene are looking for a Solution Architect to be part of our dedicated team serving Scottish Power Energy Network (SPEN) in the UK.

Magdalene operates as a Telecommunication Infrastructure Services Company and is part of the Telecom Division of M Group Services. Covering the full network lifecycle, we deliver Managed Services and Projects for both fixed and mobile infrastructure networks across the operator and utility markets.

Role Purpose:

The Solution Architect (SA) is responsible for creating the customer solution, Statements of work, associated costs and High Level Design to support the proposal. They will work closely with the customer and account teams refining the requirements, providing guidance, subject matter expertise and assist with strategy resulting in solutions that are deliverable, operational and commercially sound.

The Solution Architect (SA) role is to be the Design Authority for the end-to-end technical and services for solutions for the customer. The role will be responsible for working with internal stakeholders and directly plus closely with customers in order to design, cost, and document the solution to be offered.

You will be responsible for the design, development, documentation and delivery of solutions for both active and passive within the customer estate. Day to day you will evaluate new network and IT technologies, ensure systems are aligned to customer strategy, meeting customer requirements and ensuring a sustainable support model. You will be working with various internal and customer teams to define and validate solutions are fit for purpose. The role also requires working closely with key stakeholders, customers and suppliers to ensure the solution is architecturally, strategically and operationally aligned as per strategy.

What will you be doing:

* Capture and interpret customer requirements, and design complex custom solutions to meet customer requirements whilst ensuring solutions are scalable, repeatable, and utilizing existing standard services as much as possible.

* Acting as key signoff for technical artefacts (high & low level design, implementation & test approaches, operational & support handover, etc.)

* Ability to leverage and influence, show resolve under pressure from both customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring desired Technical & Project outcomes with adherence of design standards & principles.

* Build a “trusted advisor” relationships with our customers acting as the IP technical “end-to-end” authority within the business.

* Design, assist deployment and operation of customer networks by ensuring they are not only “fit for purpose” but configuration items are templated, modularized and eventually industrialized.

* Quality assurance in the design and implementation process.

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

* At least 5 years' experience in dealing with SME customers in a technical, solution design or consultancy role.

* Good presentation and interpersonal skills, ability to present, leverage and influence internal stakeholders and customers up to C-level.

* Self-starter with a clear can-do mentality, ability to work under pressure from both customers and internal stakeholders and produces solution designs that are profitable & deliverable.

* Sound understanding of best practice in design methodology, Telco business processes and frameworks (eTOM or ITIL) used to deliver complex solutions

* Ability to learn and master new skills and products / platforms quickly

* Maintain required technical knowledge up-to-date and drive innovation

* Maintains industry-recognised certification(s)

* Keeps current on industry best practices.

* Maintain working knowledge of all technologies used within customer estates, Telco's and ensure ability to clearly articulate the business benefits of solution portfolio.

* Support or drive further development of design methodology, processes, documentation and standards used.

IP Networking (LAN/WAN/FIREWALL)

MPLS / MPLS-TP

Microwave / Fibre / Copper / Radio

Unified Communications (desirable)

Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel and Visio)
