Join Wakefield Council at the Boat House Café, where we pride ourselves on delivering excellent food and outstanding service. We are looking for a dedicated Catering Assistant to support our daily operations, ensuring high standards of customer service, food preparation, and safety.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Serve customers efficiently, ensuring a polite and friendly experience.
• Assist in basic food preparation and cooking.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety across kitchen, service, and seating areas.
• Handle cash transactions and operate tills accurately.
• Support the organisation and delivery of special functions and events.
• Comply with all food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
• Participate in training and departmental meetings to enhance service delivery.
• Promote products to increase sales and respond constructively to customer feedback.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in a busy catering or hospitality environment.
• Possession of or willingness to obtain a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene and preparation.
• Excellent communication and customer care skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
• Experience with cash handling and basic record-keeping.
• Awareness of Health & Safety and relevant legislation.
• Flexible, proactive, and professional approach to work.
