Waste Collection Operative (Driving Required)

Location: Based in Eastleigh, covering Bournemouth, Chichester, Crawley, Basingstoke, and Salisbury
Pay: £14.12 per hour (including holiday pay - £12.60 base pay)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (40 hours paid, 30-minute unpaid lunch)
Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term until 31 March 2026 (with potential to extend)

About the Role

We're currently recruiting for a Waste Collection Operative, perfect for someone who enjoys outdoor work, is physically fit, and has a strong work ethic. You'll be based in Eastleigh and travel across several sites in the South, using a company vehicle (driving licence essential).

This hands-on role involves clearing bin stores, pulling out refuse bins, cleaning bin areas, and litter picking around communal outdoor spaces. You'll be working largely independently, supported by a wider facilities team.

This role would be ideal if you've previously worked as a:

Bin man / Refuse Collector

Labourer

Grounds Maintenance Operative

Street Cleaner

Yard Operative

Or in any other outdoor, manual, or public-facing role

Key Responsibilities

Remove bagged waste and debris from bin stores.

Pull out and return large communal bins for scheduled collections.

Clean bin stores and outdoor communal waste areas.

Carry out general litter picking and site cleanliness checks.

Record visits and tasks using a handheld PDA (basic IT knowledge helpful).

Drive between sites safely and efficiently using a company vehicle.

Follow all Health & Safety procedures and wear PPE as required.

Carry out daily checks on vehicles and report any defects promptly.

What We're Looking For

Full UK Driving Licence (essential) - you'll drive to and from sites in a large van.

Physically fit and happy to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Comfortable working independently with good time management.

Experience in any manual labour, grounds work, waste collection, or cleaning roles is highly beneficial.

Basic digital skills - you'll use a PDA to log jobs (training provided).

A team player who's responsible, dependable, and takes pride in their work.
