Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a well-established manufacturing business in their search for a temporary Finance Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build on their existing finance experience within a friendly, supportive SME environment.
Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function, covering a broad mix of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, credit control, banking, and general finance administration.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Receivable & Credit Control- Manage the full credit control process, including proactive debt chasing and maintaining strong relationships with customer finance teams.
- Monitor overdue accounts and apply shipment holds when needed.
- Set up new customer accounts, carrying out credit checks and sanctions compliance.
- Process customer billing for completed shipments.
Cash Management & Reporting- Enter and allocate daily cash receipts and payments.
- Prepare and send monthly customer statements.
- Complete month-end reconciliations across bank, AP, and AR.
Accounts Payable & Expenses- Process supplier invoices and employee expenses accurately and on time.
- Manage payment runs in line with agreed schedules.
Audit, Compliance & Financial Support- Support internal and external audits with accurate documentation and reconciliations.
- Maintain compliance with VAT and customs requirements.
- Assist with ad hoc reporting, reconciliations, and wider operational finance tasks.
General Administration- Provide occasional reception/switchboard cover.
- Support time and attendance reporting.
- Uphold company policies and values across all areas of work.
About YouThe ideal candidate will bring:
- Experience in both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail in data entry.
- Confident communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Good organisational ability and comfort working to deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
