SEND Teaching Assistant (Hearing Impairment) – School in Huddersfield

I am currently working with a welcoming school in Huddersfield who are seeking a Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting pupils with hearing impairments.

About the role as a SEND Teaching Assistant:

The school supports primary-age pupils with a range of needs, and this position is focused on providing tailored support for students with:

• Hearing impairments (mild to profound)
• Communication needs (including use of BSL or other communication methods)
• Additional learning difficulties

We welcome applicants who have a good understanding of working with students with hearing impairments and/or speech, language and communication needs, and who are enthusiastic about supporting students to access learning and make progress.

You will ideally have:

• Experience in supporting children with hearing impairments or a strong passion for working with students with special educational needs
• Knowledge of BSL, Makaton, or alternative communication systems (desirable but not essential)
• A proactive and supportive approach, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
• An understanding of how to adapt learning resources and classroom communication to meet individual needs
