We're seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to join a dedicated team within a modern, purpose-built hospital in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality elective orthopaedic care in a state-of-the-art environment, with a strong focus on patient outcomes and clinical excellence.

The Role

As a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, you will play a key role in delivering specialist care, particularly in hip and knee procedures. You'll benefit from a supportive clinical environment, with minimal on-call responsibilities shared across the orthopaedic team and first-line cover provided.

Key Responsibilities

* Perform a wide range of elective orthopaedic procedures, including:

* Primary hip and knee replacements

* Knee arthroscopy

* Carpal tunnel release

* Joint injections and aspirations

* Additional minor procedures aligned with your expertise

* Deliver high-quality care across the full patient pathway: preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative

* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care

* Support and supervise junior clinical staff

* Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and service improvement initiatives

* Participate in teaching, CPD, and departmental development

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* GMC Specialist Registration in Trauma & Orthopaedics

* Proven high-volume surgical experience, such as:

* 250+ primary hip/knee replacements or

* 500+ arthroscopic procedures over 3 years

* Strong clinical outcomes supported by NJR (or equivalent) data

* Excellent theatre efficiency and patient care record

* Strong communication and teamwork skills

* A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement

* Flexibility to meet service and productivity goals
