Assistant Accountant

Location: Lichfield area

Salary: Up to £40k

We are proud to be recruiting on behalf of our client - a well-established and respected food manufacturing business supplying major UK retailers. With a strong reputation for quality and innovation, they are now seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their busy finance team.

About the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a solid accounting background to play a key part in a dynamic finance function. You'll work closely with the wider team to ensure smooth day-to-day financial operations, supporting accurate reporting and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and submit VAT returns for both UK and European operations

Carry out regular bank reconciliations

Manage invoicing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

Support with month-end duties and financial reporting

Utilise the Prophet ERP system (or similar) to maintain accurate records and reporting

Assist with other ad hoc finance tasks as required

What We're Looking For:

AAT qualified or working towards AAT (or similar qualification)

Experience with UK and European VAT submissions

Previous use of Prophet ERP or similar accounting/ERP systems

Strong understanding of bank reconciliation processes

Attention to detail, good organisational skills, and the ability to work to deadlines
