Mechanical Engineer Microfluidics

JOB TYPE: Permanent, FullTime

The Mechanical Design Engineer will want to work in a fastpaced, handson, practicallybiased role designing experimental rigs and microfluidics. You will work on the design, build, test and ongoing support of the microfluidic and mechanical platforms which enable the life sciences team to conduct their experiments.

To begin with, your primary responsibility will be the mechanical build and test of existing rig designs, documenting your work and analysing results to draw conclusions and make recommendations. As you build your skills and experience youll get the opportunity to become more involved with part and subassembly design, eventually taking ownership of tasks throughout the entire rig design and commissioning life cycle.


You will:

- Have graduated with a 2.1 or above in Mechanical Engineering or similar from a top university
- Have gained a minimum of A at Alevel (or similar) in Mathematics and Physics
- Have a passion for handson engineering
- Ideally have some experience working in an engineering environment, for example a graduate role, industrial placement year or summer internship
- Have a strong interest in and understanding of fluid mechanics, engineering materials and manufacturing techniques, including design for manufacture and assembly
- Have a good understanding of mechanics and engineering first principles
