We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Town Planner or Principal Town Planner to join a dynamic and forward-thinking consultancy based in Manchester. Responsibilities

As a Senior Town Planner/Principal Town Planner, you will:

  • Lead and manage planning projects across various sectors, including residential, commercial, and infrastructure.
  • Provide expert planning advice to clients, ensuring compliance with local and national planning policies.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and other related documentation.
  • Conduct site appraisals, feasibility studies, and environmental assessments.
  • Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering their professional development.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in planning legislation and policy to provide informed guidance.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligibility to apply.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a consultancy or local authority setting.
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • A proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
Day-to-Day

Your typical day will involve:

  • Engaging with clients to understand their planning needs and objectives.
  • Conducting site visits and assessments to gather critical information.
  • Preparing detailed planning reports and applications for submission.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and external consultants to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Representing clients at planning committees, public consultations, and appeals.
  • Monitoring project progress and ensuring timely delivery of services.
