We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Town Planner or Principal Town Planner to join a dynamic and forward-thinking consultancy based in Manchester. Responsibilities As a Senior Town Planner/Principal Town Planner, you will:
- Lead and manage planning projects across various sectors, including residential, commercial, and infrastructure.
- Provide expert planning advice to clients, ensuring compliance with local and national planning policies.
- Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and other related documentation.
- Conduct site appraisals, feasibility studies, and environmental assessments.
- Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
- Mentor and support junior team members, fostering their professional development.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in planning legislation and policy to provide informed guidance.
Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
- Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligibility to apply.
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a consultancy or local authority setting.
- Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- A proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
Day-to-Day Your typical day will involve:
- Engaging with clients to understand their planning needs and objectives.
- Conducting site visits and assessments to gather critical information.
- Preparing detailed planning reports and applications for submission.
- Collaborating with colleagues and external consultants to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Representing clients at planning committees, public consultations, and appeals.
- Monitoring project progress and ensuring timely delivery of services.
