About the Role

Are you a compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with complex needs?

A welcoming primary school in Harrow is seeking a dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to work across Early Years and Key Stage 1. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including physical disabilities, medical needs, communication difficulties, and sensory processing challenges.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex learning and medical needs

Assisting with personal care, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support where required

Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and therapy programmes

Supporting the use of specialist equipment and resources

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

Promoting inclusion and engagement in classroom activities

Ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and dignity of all pupils

Requirements

To be successful in this Complex Needs Teaching Assistant role, you should have:

✅ Qualifications:

Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. CACHE, NCFE, NVQ, or equivalent)

OR relevant health and social care qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Health and Social Care)

Manual handling training or willingness to complete it (highly desirable)

Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection

✅ Experience:

Previous experience working with children with complex needs, physical disabilities, or medical conditions

Experience supporting children with non-verbal communication or using communication aids (e.g. PECs, Makaton)

Confidence assisting with personal care and medical needs

Calm, patient, and resilient approach

Ability to work effectively as part of a team
