Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum

SRM Recruitment are partnering with a rapidly growing, private equity (PE) backed real estate business to recruit a Group Financial Accountant.

Ideally this role would attract an industry trained qualified accountant (CIMA or ACCA most likely) or perhaps a Finalist level accountant (CIMA / ACCA etc) with probably circa 3-5 years within a group level environment.

Our client will also consider, though this is not currently their preferred route, a candidate looking to make a move from a top 10 practice firm as a first move (non Big 4)

This role will play a pivotal role in the continued growth of the group, in delivering high quality and accurate financial information to senior leadership and build processes to coordinate the regional teams to deliver regular and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities:

Group reporting and control

Monthly Group Consolidation

Lead preparation of the group’s consolidated monthly results.

  • Prepare monthly group consolidation, including intercompany elimination and FX translation
  • Ensure consistency and completeness of regional submissions into group reporting pack
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and work with regional teams to resolve mismatches
  • Produce consolidated schedules for internal review and board reporting
  • Improve close efficiency through templates and automation initiatives

In-Housing Entity Accounting from Third Parties

Transition accounting responsibilities from external providers into internal control.

  • Coordinate handovers from outsourced accounting providers and other outsourced providers for Lux, France, and Spain
  • Ensure regional teams take ownership of local ledgers and trial balances post-handover
  • Standardise bookkeeping procedures and integrate with NetSuite structure
  • Ensure audit trail and documentation are embedded during transition
  • Flag legacy accounting issues and work with regions to remediate

Technical Accounting & Tax Support

Assist the Group FC and advisors on tax, transfer pricing, and accounting remediation projects.

  • Act as the main point of contact for collecting and submitting tax and accounting data
  • Track progress on actions arising from the international tax healthcheck
  • Coordinate with country teams to deliver documentation for the TP project
  • Maintain technical memos and central file of accounting decisions
  • Support implementation of policy changes driven by tax advice

Audit & Statutory Reporting Support

Support group audit and statutory deliverables by owning key workstreams.

  • Work with regional teams take ownership of preparing annual Audit file
  • Respond to group auditor queries relating to consolidation and accounting processes
  • Prepare reconciliations and analysis for areas owned (e.g. intercompany, equity)
  • Contribute to statutory accounts preparation across group entities
  • Ensure audit-ready documentation is kept up-to-date throughout the year
  • Work with Head of Group Reporting to resolve technical points

Exit Preparation & FDD Readiness

Ensure financial records are structured and accessible for potential due diligence.

  • Maintain well-organised backup files and transaction data for key accounts
  • Support Group FC and advisors in preparing financial DD data room
  • Ensure clean reconciliations and standard reporting formats for key KPIs
  • Assist in preparing pro forma adjustments and bridge schedules
  • Track follow-up queries and ensure timely, well-documented responses

Our client is looking for a candidate with the following profile/skills and background:

  • Ideally this role would attract an industry trained qualified accountant (CIMA or ACCA most likely, Finalist level accountant (CIMA / ACCA etc) with probably circa 3-5 years experience. Our client will also consider, though this is not currently their preferred route, a candidate looking to make a move from a top 10 practice firm as a first move (non Big 4)
  • Robust technical understanding of reporting and reporting standards such as IFRS.
  • Prior experience in working in multinational group environment (ideally)
  • Strong accounting base with understanding of commercial business activity.
  • Self-starter and confidence in communicating with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with NetSuite would be beneficial.
