About the Role
As our SEN Teacher, you will take a lead role in delivering high-quality, personalised education to pupils with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). You will be responsible for creating and implementing tailored learning plans, adapting teaching strategies, and providing emotional and social support to help pupils overcome barriers and achieve academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Personal Learning Goals for pupils with SEN, ensuring targets are ambitious and achievable
* Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet diverse learning styles and needs across your assigned age group
* Conduct regular assessments to monitor pupil progress and adjust teaching approaches accordingly
* Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and external specialists (e.g., speech and language therapists, educational psychologists) to deliver coordinated support
* Liaise effectively with parents and carers to keep them informed and involved in their child's development
* Promote positive behaviour management strategies and create a safe, inclusive classroom environment
* Lead training sessions and share best practices with colleagues to support whole-school SEN development
* Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to SEN provision and pupil progress
Person Specification:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with proven SEN teaching experience
* In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, frameworks, and best practices, including the SEND Code of Practice
* Skilled in differentiated teaching methods and behaviour management techniques
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage pupils, parents, and colleagues effectively
* Patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
* Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement
