Overview: We’re working on a completely new retail concept, and looking for a whip-smart self-starter to join US. The Director of Retail & Curation will be a foundational member of a dynamic team, charged with producing the space and cultivating a strong community presence in their location. This person will be tasked with ideating and executing a consistent schedule of brand events to support growth and awareness of the space, increase community engagement, and drive sales. This person will also be heading up all operational activities for the space, working closely with the Lead Stylist to ensure that every customer that walks through our doors has the best experience possible (better than they even expected). The Director of Retail & Curation will be viewed as the location lead and responsible for the overall success of the space. Our ideal teammate is friendly, social, community-minded, creative, enthusiastic, solutions-oriented, and not afraid of the unknown - in fact, they embrace it and make it awesome What You’ll Do: Create dynamic, diverse and unique in-person experiences that enhance Universal Standard’s sense of community in the local market. Identify and execute ongoing strategies to engage with the local community. Also, field and assess incoming events recommendations from community and clients. Manage all aspects of local event curation, programming, scheduling, space planning, event coordination, and logistics. Proactively engage current and potential clients to participate in Universal Standard curated events and experiences. Create programming-specific copy and marketing materials based off of Universal Standard brand guidelines (ex. email, web portal, social, signage, etc.) Deliver an exceptional client experience to all visitors, fostering an environment that reflects Universal Standard’s brand mission, goals, and values. Oversee the ordering of all inventory and supplies. Establish clear systems and processes for communicating with corporate teams, and work closely with Finance and Operations team member regarding budgets. The Skills You’ll Need: Proven event management, business development, and community building expertise with an emphasis on client service. Interest in the apparel/fashion industry. Strong project management skills. The ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and events simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with limited resources. Excellent communication skills collaborating across functions. Extremely detail-oriented. Wide network of contacts in the local area and knowledge of key local events/happenings.
