About the Role We’re looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to join my client's growing engineering team. If you have a strong background in electrical and systems design, a passion for precision, and a desire to work on cutting-edge projects in a dynamic environment, we want to hear from you!
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the design and development of advanced electrical systems and infrastructure, supporting both internal teams and external clients.
Key Responsibilities - Develop electrical and systems design concepts from first principles
- Produce high-quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings to ISO standards
- Generate STEP files for client and customer use
- Refine mechanical designs into detailed drawing outputs
- Create Visio diagrams to support wider company needs
- Collaborate on the selection and implementation of CAD software tools
- Ensure compliance with EU directives and relevant safety standards
- Apply knowledge of BS7671 (18th Edition), BS8888:2017, EMC, and LVD standards
- Design and document electrical enclosures (control panels, 19” racks)
Candidate Requirements - Minimum qualification: HND/HNC, apprenticeship, or equivalent
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical/systems design (preferred)
- Strong understanding of electrical safety and compliance within the EU regulatory framework
- Familiarity with BS7671 wiring regulations and the Electricity at Work Act
- Proficient in BS8888:2017 drawing standards
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD); knowledge of electrical CAD software such as SEE Electrical or ETAP is a plus
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
