JOB TYPE: Permanent

SALARY: £35000 - £45000/annum

Job Purpose:    

-             To Manage key supplier relationships

-             Establish long term pricing agreements

-             Improve the quality of the supply chain in terms of

-             On time delivery

-             Product quality

-             Overall cost of supply

-             Work with the engineering team in identifying design improvements to achieve all of the above

-             Ensure suppliers are fully charged for their failure to deliver to specification

MAIN DUTIES:

1.           Develop and execute commodity strategies for assigned commodities

2.           Enhance purchasing expertise and knowledge for both local and global market trends

3.           Execute comprehensive supplier quotation process to establish commodity pricing whilst supporting MRP driven procurement activity.

4.           Identify, develop and manage strategic supply sources that support the company's long term business objectives

5.           Exploit commodity based relationships to maximise value in the whole of the supply chain

6.           Establish a mechanism to reduce the duplication of SKUs and inventory across the two UK business units

7.           Establish and report KPIs detailing purchase price variance, cost avoidance and the factors behind each of these.

8.           Support the Development and Monitoring of Supplier performance.

9.           Continuous Improvement. You will have responsibility to make suggestions on Continuous Improvement within the business; expectations are around 4 a year. This responsibility forms part all employees' job description.

Reporting

1.           To prepare and present KPI status at the Monthly Senior Management meeting detailing objectives, progress to date, future activity and timelines risks and opportunities and mitigating actions.

2.           Prepare the monthly metrics for presentation to the Director of Global Supply Chain and the monthly Vertical Review.

Product and Customer

1.           An ability to understand the performance requirements of the Company's products and the obligations this imposes on the supply chain.

2.           Understand the contractual obligations with respect to product configuration for each customer and possess the ability to communicate to both customers and suppliers the rationale behind any proposed changes to product configuration

Leadership and Behavioural

1.           Ability to explain complex issues to non-specialists, and to gain acceptance of optimum solutions through sound arguments and intellectual reasoning.

2.           Ability to work across all levels of the organisation, and able to present to large and diverse audiences

3.           To be assertive in driving issue resolutions whilst recognising and being inclusive of differing view points

Commercial and Financial

1.           Ensure revenue and profitability are maximised by identifying, measuring and reducing costs in all aspects of the supply chain.

2.           Establish appropriate baselines and measures to quantify cost improvement activities

3.           Assist in the generation of RFQ's by providing cost inputs and schedules

4.           Understand make up of margins and PL

5.           Understanding of Legal Contracts and NDA's

6.           Generate business case/payback justifications for any Long-term purchasing Agreements

7.           Update the Senior Management team with status of savings realised.

Other

1.           Ensure that all Environmental, Health and Safety Other Company polices are adhered to all times

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education/Experience:       

-             Knowledge and experience in the procurement of microelectronic components

-             Knowledge and understanding of MRP/ERP based business systems

-             CIPS qualification to level 4 or above preferable

Key Competencies:        

-             Possess excellent written and verbal negotiating skills

-             Good level of IT literacy, with competence in MS Office.

-             Numerically literate with good understanding of how to quantify and measure costs, margins

-             Ability to understand the wider business processes and how they impact overall

-             Good written skills and ability to communicate cohesively and succinctly with all levels within the organisation and with Customers and Suppliers

-             Good planning and organisational skills

-             Attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to recognise critical issues is key to the role

Travel: 

The position can be based in the Great Yarmouth or Milton Keynes business units, there will be  some travel between locations and to suppliers and customers

A full current driving licence is required

Clearance:          The successful candidate will be required to obtain Security Clearance
