Junior Accounts Assistant

Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire

Salary: £24,000 – 25,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 (1-hour lunch break)

About the Role

StormX Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established organisation in Stevenage to recruit a Junior Accounts Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in finance and gain experience within an accounts receivable function, within a supportive and close-knit team.

This role could suit a school or college leaver with an ambition to gain experience in a finance team. It could also study someone who has started or is keen to start studying towards their AAT qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Importing transaction reports into the finance system
• Daily reconciliation of site takings, including investigating variances
• Handling card disputes with suppliers
• Producing cash collection reports and tracking refunds
• Monthly analysis of card transaction balances
• Liaising with cash collectors to arrange collections and resolve disputes
• Assisting with monthly charges for missing stock
• Supporting debt recovery from debtor lists
• Allocating funds received via the bank
• Setting up new customer accounts, including credit checks
• Participating in the reception rota (answering calls and welcoming visitors)
• Carrying out ad hoc duties to support the accounts’ receivable function

About You

• Highly organised with the ability to manage your own workload
• Flexible and willing to support across different tasks
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (experience preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Strong work ethic
