About the role:

In the electronics manufacturing sector, a Learning and Development (L&D) Manager acts as a strategic bridge between technical production requirements and workforce capability. The role focuses on ensuring that technical staff, engineers, and production teams possess the specialised skills needed for high-precision manufacturing, while also driving leadership and operational excellence.

To lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of a comprehensive L&D strategy that aligns with manufacturing goals. This involves identifying critical skill gaps in technical production, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IPC, ISO 9001), and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

What You Will Do:

  • Technical Training Strategy: Develop and implement a technical competency framework specific to electronics manufacturing, including soldering, PCB assembly, and quality control.

  • Needs Analysis: Conduct thorough Training Needs Analysis (TNA) across departments to identify immediate and future skills requirements for production and engineering.

  • Compliance & Safety: Oversee mandatory training programmes including Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and ISO quality requirements.

  • Learning Design & Delivery: Create blended learning solutions (on-the-job, digital, and classroom) for diverse audiences, from shop-floor operatives to senior management.

  • Talent & Succession: Design leadership pathways and high-potential development programmes to ensure a pipeline of future technical and operational leaders.

  • Budget & Vendor Management: Manage the L&D budget, negotiating with external technical training providers and ensuring high ROI on all interventions.

  • Digital Transformation: Lead the implementation and administration of a Learning Management System (LMS) to track compliance, certifications, and employee progress.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Experience: Proven track record in an L&D management role, ideally within a fast-paced manufacturing or technical engineering environment.

  • Qualifications: A degree in HR, Education, or a related field; professional certification such as CIPD Level 5 or 7 is highly preferred.

  • Technical Literacy: Comfortable working in technical environments with the ability to understand complex manufacturing challenges and product operations.

  • Project Management: Strong ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with an analytical, data-driven approach to measuring impact.

  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, from technical SMEs to C-level executives.
