Job Title: Shift Engineer (Day Shift)
Salary: £47,380 per annum
Working Pattern: 3 on / 3 off - 38.5 hours per week (Day Shift)

A leading food manufacturer is seeking a skilled and proactive Shift Engineer to join its established engineering team. This position plays a key role in ensuring smooth maintenance operations, maximizing machinery uptime, and supporting production goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing engineering tasks across the site while maintaining compliance with safety and audit standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Minimize machinery downtime and plan preventative maintenance to avoid production disruption

*

Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with health & safety regulations

*

Keep the maintenance plan up to date and manage critical spare parts availability

*

Supervise visiting engineers and ensure adherence to factory rules and safety procedures

*

Support continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering function

*

Maintain clear documentation of all maintenance work and breakdowns

*

Contribute to engineering budget planning and monitor staff engagement and turnover

*

Plan and carry out reactive and proactive maintenance on packaging and processing equipment

*

Coordinate and support technical projects, including machinery upgrades and site improvements

*

Assist in developing strategies to reduce downtime and improve site efficiency

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

*

Experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment

*

Strong knowledge of packaging machinery

*

Level 2 Food Hygiene certification

*

Level 2 HACCP training

*

18th Edition Electrical Qualification
