The Role - Machinery Build, Servicing & Technical Support

This is a varied, hands-on engineering role split between workshop-based machinery build and field service engineering:

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

70% workshop-based: assembling, wiring, and commissioning packaging machines
30% field-based: site visits for installation, breakdown response, and service support
Modify and adjust PLC programs (Ladder Logic / Motion Control) to suit customer requirements or kit variations
Carry out electrical wiring, control panel building, and system modifications
Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software faults in PLC-controlled, servo-driven systems

Approx. 75% hands-on electrical work: wiring, panel building, modifying control systems
Approx. 25% PLC and motion control programming: editing existing logic to adapt for machine configuration changes
Occasional mechanical work — mainly in support of the electrical focus
Safe electrical working practices and familiarity with industrial safety protocols are essential

What We're Looking For

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
Experience in a similar machinery build or service role
Confident working with PLC logic (Ladder Logic), servo systems, and control architecture
Strong hands-on electrical skills — wiring, reading schematics, fault-finding
Willingness to travel (UK-wide) for customer support, including some overnight stays
Team-oriented but able to work independently and take ownership of tasks

What You'll Get

Technically rich role with clear skill progression
Excellent training and development in PLCs, automation, and machinery systems
Great team environment with exposure to full machinery lifecycle
Stable Monday-Friday shift with overtime available
32 days holiday and strong company benefits
