Astute's Renewables team is partnering with an IDNO business committed to technical excellence and industry leadership to recruit a Design Engineer who is happy to commute to Derby on occasion for team meetings.

The strategically important Design Engineer role comes with a salary of £50,000- £65,000, pension and flexible working.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the IDNO leadership team, you will:

Producing designs and planning electrical distribution networks from 11kv to 132kv
Create detailed protection and metering single line diagrams
Maintain accuracy of designs such as cable entry points into substations with suitable measurements
Create associated drawings for review based on earthing studies
Generating a range of diagrams such as schematic diagrams based on fundamental philosophies and engineer's sketches, high voltage power cable routing diagrams, creating detailed schemes and wiring diagrams, as well as formulating multicore diagrams and schedules.
Manage and control design changes with civils team, clients and IDNO.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Engineering Degree or equivalent C&G, NVQ, HNC, etc.
Working towards chartership (IEng, EngTech)

Personal skills

The Design Engineer role would suit someone who is:

Experience creating electrical designs, ideally up to 132kv but not essential.
Working in association with DNO/IDNO/ICP
Software skills including AutoCAD, Windebut, and Trimble.Salary and benefits of the Design Engineer role:
