One of London's most vital transport operations are currently seeking an experienced Material Controller to join their Inventory Management team.

Role: Material Controller
Duration: 3-month contract
Pay: £222 p/day (Inside IR35 via Umbrella)
Location: Acton (3-days onsite)This role is ideal for a proactive and hard-working professional working at a strategic level, planning, controlling, analysing, and reporting on materials to keep operations running smoothly in a fast‑paced, data‑driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage material availability to support fleet operational requirements
Run MRP processes using SAP R/3
Analyse inventory data to identify risks, shortages, and improvement opportunities
Produce reports and present insights to engineering, fleet, and senior stakeholders
Attend and contribute to cross-functional meetings
React quickly to emerging issues and manage competing priorities
Build strong working relationships across depots and operational teamsThis is an exciting opportunity for someone with solid material control experience, analytical and detail‑driven, who is confident under pressure, quick-thinking and comfortable managing their own workload.

Key Requirements:

Rail, fleet, engineering or asset-heavy industry experience
Experience working as a Material Controller or equivalent planning/control role
Strong hands-on SAP R/3 experience (non‑negotiable)
Practical MRP experience in a materials, planning, or inventory control role
Advanced Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data manipulation)
Good knowledge of supply chain and procurement processesThis is not a stores or warehouse position. This is a specialist, analytical role focused on ensuring material availability for fleet operations across one of London's most vital transport operations.
