Reputable primary and secondary schools in Plymouth are looking to add a committed and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to their staff. For anyone wishing to obtain experience prior to applying for teacher training, this is the ideal position.

Role and Responsibilities:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and challenging behaviours. Your responsibilities will include:

Giving one-on-one support: Spending time getting to know students who need more help and adjusting support to suit their specific requirements. This could be giving advice on academic matters, assisting with assignments in the classroom, or offering support for personal hygiene needs as needed.
Individual education plans (IEPs) for students are put into action by working together with teachers and SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators). You'll assist the pupils in reaching their learning objectives and assist in keeping track of their development.
Promoting positive behavior includes not only reminding students of school policies and procedures but also encouraging and exhibiting positive behavior. You'll provide guidance on appropriate social behavior and employ workable techniques to manage challenging behaviors.
Encouraging and demonstrating positive behavior as well as reiterating school policies and procedures are all part of promoting positive behavior. You'll use practical methods to control difficult behaviors and offer advice on proper social behavior.
Establishing an inclusive learning atmosphere where students feel appreciated, respected, and supported is known as facilitating inclusion. You will collaborate closely with educators and other staff members to guarantee that every student has equal access to classroom learning opportunities and school life.
Helping instructors keep their classrooms neat and comfortable for learning. You could assist with organizing supplies, overseeing machinery, and putting plans into action to improve student focus and engagement.
Collaborating with colleagues: Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other teaching assistants to share insights and best practices. You will actively participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of effective intervention strategies.
Monitoring and reporting: Observing and documenting student progress and behaviours, providing regular feedback to teachers and SENCOs. You will maintain accurate records and contribute to the evaluation of intervention programs.

The successful candidate will have:

Relevant experience working with students with special educational needs and challenging behaviours is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
Graduation from a recognized institution is preferable.
