CAD Technician

Location: On-site - Cambridgeshire

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Instrumentation and CAD technician to join our engineering team.

In this hands-on role, you will support the design and production of electrical and instrumentation documentation, working closely with Control Engineers to develop high-quality drawings using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.

You will be instrumental in producing P&IDs, control panel GAs, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, hook-up drawings, Boolean logic schematics, and more.

Key Responsibilities

* Interpret and analyse customer specifications and project documentation

* Create and revise drawings using AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical, including:

* P&IDs

* Wiring diagrams

* Control panel GAs (Local and PLC panels)

* Loop and hook-up drawings

* Boolean logic diagrams

* Assist Controls Engineers in developing Bills of Materials (BOMs)

* Support workshop personnel with design clarifications and updates during production

* Review and incorporate customer comments and mark-ups

* Produce accurate as-built documentation

* Conduct drawing checks for accuracy and compliance

* Use MS Office and web-based systems to manage project files and communications

About You

* Qualification in Engineering (Electrical/Instrumentation preferred) or equivalent industry experience

* Proven experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical

* Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, comprehensive electrical and control system drawings

* Experience with control panels, wiring layouts, and instrumentation design

* P&ID creation experience is highly desirable

* Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

* Self-motivated, assertive, and confident in your technical abilities

* Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

Additional Requirements

Must hold a full, valid UK driving licence

Willing to attend on-site workshops when required
