Finance Manager (Remote)
My client is a Local Authority in the South West who are looking to appoint a talented Finance Manager on an Interim post
About the role:
Based in The South West - Remote Working
A vacancy has arisen within the Finance Service for an Accounting & Technical Finance Manager to lead on the council's Statement of Accounts, audit, Collection Fund, treasury management and capital programme reporting.

- Remote Working (once a month in office)
- Hours: 09:00 -17:00 Monday to Friday
Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and audit of the annual Statement of Accounts, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and professional standards.
- Oversee the Collection Fund, ensuring accurate reporting of Council Tax and Business Rates, and liaising with auditors and external bodies.
- Lead the development and monitoring of the council's Capital Programme, Treasury Management Strategy and Investment Strategy, ensuring alignment with CIPFA Codes.
- Provide technical financial advice on taxation (VAT, SDLT, Corporation Tax) and accounting policy development.
- Manage a small team of accountants, providing coaching, mentoring and technical development.
About you:
You will have the following experiences:
- A CCAB accountancy qualification (CIPFA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or equivalent.
- In-depth experience of local government accounting, statutory accounts preparation, Collection Fund, and external audit.
- Strong technical knowledge of CIPFA Codes, IFRS and local authority accounting practices.
