MSW Online Program Coordinator Department of Social Work MSW Online Program Coordinator The Department of Social Work invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, term faculty position as MSW Online Program Coordinator. About the College: The College of Health and Human Services at George Mason University comprises five academic units in addition to Social Work: Global and Community Health; Health Administration, Policy and Informatics; Nursing; Nutrition and Food Studies; and Rehabilitation Science, fielding a variety of graduate and undergraduate programs (BS through PhD). The College has seven academic programs that are externally accredited, and is home to more than 1,900 undergraduate and 950 graduate students and approximately 140 faculty and staff. The College is currently transitioning to become a college of public health. Further information about the College may be found at: The College has just opened its Population Health Center (PHC), which is a state-of-the art clinical and research facility located in the Peterson Family Health Sciences Hall on the Fairfax campus. It will offer integrated primary and behavioral health care to the community and house population-based research while providing experiential learning and professional development opportunities for students within a transdisciplinary setting. The PHC is a space on the Mason campus where the Department of Social Work's faculty and students, alongside their transdisciplinary collaborators and community partners, can deliver behavioral health and work together to address some of the profession's most pressing social challenges. About the Department: The Department of Social Work has internationally recognized faculty for their expertise in areas of behavioral health, older adults, children and youth, and immigration, with a proud history of faculty-student-community research collaborations. The Department of Social Work offers BSW and MSW degree programs with an educational and research mission focusing on practice and policy interventions that improve health and well-being and promote economic and social justice, particularly for underserved individuals, families, and communities. It has just launched a highly-enrolled online MSW degree program, and is building a PhD degree. The Department comprises 17 faculty and serves approximately 200 BSW and 250 MSW students. The MSW Online Program Coordinator is part of the departmental leadership team and works collaboratively with the Department Chair, Director of Field Education, MSW Program Director, and BSW Program Director. The Department enjoys its location 15 miles from Washington, DC, which allows students internship opportunities at some of the country's most sought-after national, government, and community field sites. Further information about the Department may be found at Responsibilities: The MSW Online Program Coordinator administers the MSW online program. This is a 50% workload release position. The MSW Online Coordinator teaches 15 credit hours over the academic year and summer sessions. Major responsibilities include: Provide oversight, direction, and support of all students enrolled in the online MSW Program Provide and coordinate student on-boarding and student advising (professional academic advising) Collaborate with the leadership team to plan, schedule, and staff MSW online courses Work with the leadership team to initiate, plan, and execute adjunct faculty training, support, and evaluation Work with the leadership team to maintain accreditation standards and assessment Oversee admissions review process Recruit, maintain, and monitor enrollment in the MSW online program; meet virtually or in person with prospective students Maintain curricular documents related to MSW online program (catalog, manual, handbook, website, brochures) Initiate, plan, and implement programming for MSW online students to enhance the learning environment and provide opportunities for feedback Manage academic actions (e.g., review disposition forms, conduct student reviews, process grade appeals and special petitions; monitor and consider student modality changes) Maintain effective administrative relationships with central institutional, administrative, advisement, admissions, and registrar officers Participate in faculty meetings, university governance, professional and public service Serve on departmental and college committees Required Qualifications: MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited institution; two years post-MSW practice experience; teaching experience in Social Work education (both online and traditional formats); leadership and management experience; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proficient office software skills (Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint) database capabilities; ability to problem solve, think critically, and be able to adjust to a rapidly changing environment; and ability to work efficiently and effectively with a diverse student population. Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in social work or related field; experience with nontraditional adult learning and online teaching; academic administrative experience; experience as a program director at a CSWE-accredited institution; and knowledge of the accreditation process.
