GSL Education is looking to appoint a dedicated and resilient Science Teacher for a highly regarded Alternative Provision setting in the Hulll, starting from Septemeber 2025. The position is full-time.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Science Teacher who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and those who have struggled to access education in mainstream settings.

The Setting:

A supportive and nurturing Alternative Provision that provides specialist education for pupils aged 11-16 with SEMH and complex behavioural needs.

Small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios, and a trauma-informed approach are embedded in the school culture.

Staff work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support pupils' emotional regulation, academic progress, and personal development.

Students follow a personalised and practical curriculum aimed at re-engaging them with learning, improving self-esteem, and preparing them for positive next steps.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging and adaptive Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4 (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), modified to meet individual needs.

Plan, assess, and differentiate lessons for students with a wide range of abilities, including those with EHCPs and SEND.

Implement positive behaviour strategies and build strong, respectful relationships with students.

Collaborate closely with support staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to develop and deliver individual learning plans.

Participate in whole-school CPD, behaviour support planning, and enrichment activities to contribute to the wider life of the setting.

Candidate Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS, with a relevant Science degree.

Recent experience teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and 4 - experience in an AP, PRU, or SEMH setting is highly desirable.

Strong classroom management and a nurturing approach to building trust with students.

Two professional references within the last two years (placements will be accepted for ECTs).

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
