Head of Private Client (Solicitor / Legal Executive)

Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Full Remuneration Package: £55,000-£75,000 DOE
A well-regarded firm is seeking an experienced Private Client Lawyer (Solicitor or Legal Executive) to step into a Head of Department role within its established Bournemouth office.
This is a key leadership opportunity for a senior lawyer looking to take ownership of a department, while still maintaining a hands-on caseload within a highly supportive and flexible environment.
The Role
You will lead the Private Client department while managing your own caseload, including:
- Probate matters
- Estate administration
- Wills
- Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Trusts
Alongside fee-earning, you will:
- Lead, support and develop members of the team
- Oversee workflow and maintain high standards of client care
- Play a key role in the ongoing growth and direction of the department
- Support business development and maintain strong client relationships
You will be part of a large, collaborative firm, with strong internal support and a positive team culture.
About You
- Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with 8+ PQE
- Strong technical expertise across Wills, Probate and Trusts
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring others (or ready to step into leadership)
- Confident in a client-facing role with excellent communication skills
- Commercially aware with an interest in developing a department
- Organised, proactive and able to manage both caseload and team responsibilities

- Full remuneration package £55,000-£75,000 DOE
- No billing targets
- 35-hour working week (Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm)
