The Role

We are seeking a motivated and reflective History Teacher to join our dynamic Humanities faculty. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3-5 and contribute actively to the wider academic and cultural life of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging History lessons at KS3, KS4, and KS5

*

Foster critical thinking, source-analysis skills, and empathetic understanding of past events

*

Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE and A-Level examinations, maintaining high academic standards

*

Contribute to the development of the History curriculum and department initiatives

*

Participate in whole-school events, assemblies, and enrichment programmes

Person Specification

Essential:

*

A degree in History or a closely related discipline

*

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)

*

Experience teaching History at KS3 and KS4; KS5 teaching experience desirable

*

Strong subject knowledge and commitment to rigorous scholarship

*

Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom-management skills

Desirable:

*

Familiarity with current GCSE and A-Level History specifications

*

Experience in a grammar or other high-achieving, academically selective school

*

Willingness to support co-curricular activities (e.g. history club, school trips) and pastoral care
