A structural and steelwork contractor based in Hertfordshire is currently seeking a permanent Steel Estimator to join their pre-construction team. This is a vital role preparing accurate cost estimates and tenders for projects ranging from £20k to £3 million.

Start Date: April
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 per annum
Hours: 08:00 AM - 05:00 PM
Contract: Permanent
Duties:

• Reviewing detailed drawings and specifications to understand project requirements.
• Performing accurate material take-offs and assessments.
• Obtaining and analyzing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Assessing labour and fabrication costs based on project complexity.
• Compiling and submitting comprehensive and competitive tender packages.
• Liaising with internal teams to ensure technical and commercial alignment.
• Managing a pipeline of tenders with values ranging from £20k to £3m.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as an Estimator within the structural or secondary steelwork sector.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
