Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of delivery drivers.
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations, driver hours, and safety policies.
  • Plan and optimise delivery routes for efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules with production and customer service teams.
  • Monitor and control delivery costs, fuel expenses, and vehicle maintenance budgets.
  • Manage relationships with shipping partners (e.g., Parcelforce, DHL) and oversee international shipping.
  • Handle customs documentation and ensure compliance with international trade regulations.
  • Analyse delivery performance metrics and implement continuous improvements.
  • Resolve escalated customer delivery issues.
  • Conduct driver performance reviews, training, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce management reports.
  • Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and properly maintained.
  • Oversee driver recruitment and induction processes.

Personal Competencies

  • Previous management or supervisory experience in logistics or transport operations.
  • Strong knowledge of driving rules and vehicle regulations.
  • Experience with route planning and multi-drop deliveries.
  • Proven track record in cost management and budget control.
  • Experience working with third-party logistics providers and international shipping.
  • Strong analytical skills for performance monitoring and process improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • IT proficiency with logistics software and Microsoft Office.
  • Own transport required due to rural location.
  • Full UK driving licence essential.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
  • Eagerness to develop the team and contribute to growth objectives, including international expansion.

Hours of Work

  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (flexibility required).
