Relevant Work Experience: Demonstrated experience in caring professions, particularly with young people.
Enhanced DBS Disclosure: A current and valid Enhanced DBS Disclosure is required.
Behaviour Management: Ability to effectively manage difficult and challenging behaviour, coupled with knowledge of the needs of troubled children and young people.
Holistic Support: Capacity to provide basic support for the physical and emotional well-being of young people.
Confidentiality: A strong understanding of the concept of confidentiality and its implications.
Documentation Skills: Proficient in recording and report writing, with the ability to maintain confidential records accurately.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside strong negotiating abilities.
Legal Knowledge: Familiarity with the Children Act 1989, the Care Standards Act 2000, and the Children's Homes Regulation 2015.
Team Collaboration: An effective and proactive team member, capable of working within a multi-disciplinary professional environment.
Advocacy: Ability to act as an advocate for young people.
Child Protection: A clear understanding of child abuse and child protection issues.
Professional Integrity: High level of professional integrity and honesty.
Flexibility: A flexible approach to work, including location, duties, and hours, with the ability to work anti-social hours and shift work.
Professional Development: Willingness to undertake further training as required, with a positive approach to self-development.
IT Proficiency: Effective IT skills.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
Candidates with the following qualifications or experience will be highly regarded:
Relevant Qualifications: A Health and Social Care Level 3, QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People, or Level 3 Child and Adolescent Mental Health, or equivalent.
Specialised Experience: Experience working in CAMHS inpatient or community services, Social/Residential Work, Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Youth Work, Children's Homes, or young adults in transition services.
Recent Training: Relevant recent training in working with children and young people.
Workload Management: Ability to manage a heavy and varied workload effectively.
Child-Centric Understanding: Demonstrated understanding of a child/young person's needs and the effects of their and their family's history.
Empathetic Approach: An empathetic and caring manner, with the ability to build trusting relationships with young people.
