Interim Designated Clinical Officer

Based in London, hybrid

Length: 3 months initially

Rate: £419 per day via an umbrella company

We’re working with a London-based organisation to appoint an interim Designated Clinical Officer (DCO) to support the delivery of SEND responsibilities across health and education. This senior-level role will coordinate multi-agency input into EHCPs, advise on statutory compliance, and support service improvement across the local health and care system.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Act as the central point of contact for health input into EHCPs, Annual Reviews, and tribunal cases
• Liaise with schools, health providers, and local authority teams to ensure statutory duties are met
• Provide expert advice on SEND legislation, policy, and best practice across the ICB
• Support the development and implementation of SEND strategies and improvement plans
• Ensure smooth transitions between children’s and adult health services
• Represent health on inter-agency panels and contribute to strategic planning

Experience and knowledge required:

• Strong understanding of SEND legislation and multi-agency working
• Clinical background (e.g. nursing, therapy, mental health) with experience in children and young people’s services
• Experience working across health and local authority settings
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead on complex casework
• Enhanced DBS required
