SEN Teaching Assistant – Key Stage 1Location: PrestonPay: £103 - £110 per day Start Date: ASAPAbout the Role: We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Key Stage 1 at a nurturing and inclusive primary school in Preston.The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support for children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.You’ll play a key role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop social and emotional skills in a safe and supportive environment.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Support children with their communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
  • Assist the class teacher with planning and adapting lessons to meet diverse needs.
  • Promote inclusion and positive learning experiences for all pupils.
  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
Requirements:
  • Experience supporting children with SEN (ideally within KS1 or primary settings).
  • A relevant qualification such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs and relevant support strategies.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
