Hydraulic Engineer

We are seeking a Hydraulic Engineer to coordinate project elements including engineering design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and documentation. This role is essential in ensuring that customer projects remain on time and within budget, meeting the intricate needs of our clients. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of hydraulic systems and hands-on experience with in-house set-up, testing, calibration, and fault finding, as well as on-site customer support.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Lead the implementation of projects both in-house and on-site, including international locations.
  • Ensure project compliance with directives such as ISO9000, EC Machinery Directive, and Health Safety requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, resolve issues, and coordinate team activities to maintain the approved schedule, reporting progress to management.
  • Work out calibration requirements, carry out in-house calibration/testing, and issue calibration certification.
  • Collect data from customers or check site information in advance to guarantee smooth installation and operation.
  • Develop and follow up on detailed installation plans.
  • Act as the technical Single Point of Control/Contact and Project Leader for clients on-site.
  • Conduct fault finding on systems as required.
  • Prepare method statements and risk assessments before site work.
  • Manage manuals, standard procedures, and progress reports.
  • Liaise with customers from project commencement to clarify requirements and provide training on equipment use after installation.
  • Provide customer support as required, both on-site and remotely.
  • Assist the project manager in project preparation and handle technical issues during execution.
  • Identify risks related to safety, the environment, or health.
  • Participate in design review and project close-out review.
  • Be willing to travel internationally as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with hydraulics in the manufacturing industry of low volume high-value systems.
  • HND or degree qualified in an engineering discipline, ideally with a hydraulic qualification.
  • Demonstrable customer-centric communication skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly motivated with a positive attitude and determination.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage time efficiently, ensuring role requirements are met.
  • A positive team player with a professional appearance and demeanour.
  • Flexible hands-on approach as and when necessary.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites worldwide.
  • Able to structure own workload.
