Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs? A welcoming and inclusive school in Southwark is looking to appoint a committed SEN behaviour support assistant to work with students who require additional behavioural support to access their learning.

As a SEN behaviour support assistant, you will play a crucial role in promoting a positive learning environment, managing challenging behaviour, and implementing tailored strategies in line with pupils' individual education and behaviour plans. The school caters to pupils with a range of needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), ADHD, and autism.

The successful SEN behaviour support assistant will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to support the delivery of lessons, de-escalate challenging behaviour, and encourage emotional regulation and resilience in pupils. This is a full-time, term-time position, with hours from 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

This SEN behaviour support assistant role is offered on a temporary to permanent basis, with excellent long-term career prospects for the right candidate. Previous experience supporting young people with additional needs is highly desirable.

Requirements:

Previous experience working with children with SEN and/or behavioural needs (school, care, or youth work experience welcome)

A calm, patient, and empathetic nature

Strong behaviour management skills and resilience

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
