This full-time Teaching Assistant role is based in a Year 2 classroom, starting on Monday 2nd September 2025. This SEN Teaching Assistant position is full-time and will run for at least the Autumn Term, with the potential to extend. Your new roleAs a Year 2 Teaching Assistant, you'll use your expertise in positive behaviour management to create a calm, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. You'll work closely with the class teacher to support both whole-class learning and a small group of children with complex needs, including ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Your focus will be on adapting support to meet the individual needs of pupils with special educational needs (SEN). This role is ideal for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who is confident working in a Year 2 primary classroom, understands the importance of child-led learning, and is passionate about helping children with ASD, ADHD, and other complex needs succeed.
What you'll need to succeedTo succeed in this role:
- You must have at least 40 days of school-based or transferable child-based experience, either paid or voluntary.
- You should have a strong understanding of ASD, ADHD, and positive behaviour management techniques.
- You must be confident working both 1:1 and in small groups, adapting learning to suit a range of needs.
- You'll need to be empathetic, patient, and flexible, with a genuine passion for supporting children's development.
- You must be able to work independently and communicate effectively with colleagues and parents.
- Experience in tracking progress and contributing to planning is desirable.
