Dementia Care Manager Summary

You'll be overseeing 'Nostalgia' our client's specialist dementia community, managing a team of care team leaders and care assistants and working alongside the residential care manager to provide the full scope of care and support to the residents. The Dementia Care Manager will share their passion and deep understanding of dementia needs and provisions with their team, in order to provide an unrivalled level of care. You'll be knowledgeable of the challenges Dementia brings to both residents and their families and be able to be the positive advocate for seeing the person and not the condition.

You will have shared responsibility with Home Manager and DM for the selection, recruitment, induction and training and regular appraisal of all staff in your allocated community.

You will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the community to the CQC and expected group standards.

You'll be responsible for overseeing all elements of residents' care, including assessing new residents needs prior to moving in and re-assess once moved in, creating, monitoring and updating care plans, ensuring safe medication management, identifying additional needs, and acting as an advocate for all residents, with specific awareness of safeguarding, mental capacity and deprivation of liberties.

You'll also be a supportive and caring manager. From the moment a team member starts, you'll ensure they receive an effective induction, provide ongoing guidance, review their progress, provide clear objectives to work towards and identify training needs. You'll be their mentor and someone they can rely on in a difficult or emergency situation.

The Burlington Care Home is located at the heart of Shepperton Village, which offers an abundance of local amenities and transport links; and is just a stone's throw away from The Thames and local high street.

Shepperton has plenty of places to explore, including quaint riverside pubs, Shepperton Marina, local garden centres and parks, plus many more attractions within the wider area.

Our location makes it easy to visit nearby towns and areas. We provide regular day trips away from the care home to other local parts of Surrey including, Weybridge, Hampton and Walton on Thames. A few recent day trips have included Kew Gardens, Hampton Court and Windsor Castle.

We have a close connection with Radio Wey which is broadcast from St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey. The radio team regularly visit and present live broadcasts which are very popular with our residents, playing an eclectic selection of music from all eras for all our residents to enjoy!
