Assistant Quantity Surveyor



Level of Responsibility

Working independently, responsible for initiating and completing tasks and procedures, including where relevant responsibility for supervising or guiding others. The ability to gain, and where relevant apply a range of knowledge, skills and understanding.


Summary of Role

Responsible to the project commercial lead for a number of the commercial aspects of a project / section of a larger project.

Begins to develop a commercial and technical knowledge and works closely with the commercial teams to understand and develop techniques and solutions to meet business and customer needs.

Responsibilities (not limited to):

The Startup of New Projects:

Develop an understanding of Pre-Contract Management and Project commercial start up proceduresProcurement

Assist with subcontract procurement in accordance with the procurement schedule timetable, in accordance with the Vinci procurement process and policy/ the preparation of work package content sheets/ the preparation of subcontract invitations to tender and evaluate tender returns (time, cost, quality and SHE)Applications for Payment and Invoicing

Aid in the timely preparation of valuations, submissions of invoices and receipt of payment/ the prompt preparation and settlement of final accountsCost Control

Facilitate in the monitoring and management of subcontract costs/ the preparation of material wastage reconciliations/ the review plant and equipment schedules to ensure efficiency of useAccounting and Reporting

Contribute to the production of accurate and timely CVR reports and forecastsRisk and Opportunity Management

Develop an understanding and identify risks and opportunities in projectsChange Control

Support early value engineering activities as part of the project team, ensuring all associated costs of change are included within the evaluationProgramming and Project Controls

Develop a knowledge of programming and sequencing requirementsMain Contract Administration

Develop an understanding of the contractual relationships between the various parties and "stakeholders", including the clients contractual obligations in relation to those interested parties, with particular emphasis to Conditions PrecedentSubcontract Administration

Support the preparation of all necessary subcontract notices accurately and on time/ the preparation of subcontract instructions/ the prompt preparation and settlement of final accounts, including variations, claims and disputes
Re-measurement and provision of quantified schedules of works and / or bills of quantitiesProject Completion
