Salary: PO4 - £41,586 - £44,628 per annum + 30 days annual leave + bank holidays

Contract: Permanent

Location: Haringey, North London

Hours: 36 hours per week

Highways & Maintenance

The client is embarking on a major transformation of the borough and to achieve this we are investing millions in our highway infrastructure which is the most visible, well-used and valuable physical asset managed by the Client. Our roads are crucial for the prosperity of the borough as they enable the safe and free movement of people and goods whether they are walking, cycling, driving, or using bus services.

The client is embarking on major highway asset management improvements, and we have created some exciting new permanent positions. These posts will help us to continue making major improvements on the highways network through essential works to our roads, highway structures, street lighting and drainage systems, so that they all work effectively.

About the Role

The Senior Highway Engineer, Structures will undertake work in the following areas:

  • Carrying out and be an expert client on bridge surveys
  • Managing external consultants employed for bridge works
  • Managing the maintenance of highway structures and contractors carrying out these works
  • Lead on Highways structure when part of new development schemes and
  • Other externally funded highways schemes.
  • Lead client role on structures works as part of a regeneration scheme.

About You

You will have an understanding of the principal responsibilities of, and the key issues facing, local government and the public sector in respect of the maintenance of highway structures, a working knowledge and understanding of highways, traffic and transport related legislation, statutory duties and practice and an understanding of the current planning, sustainability and economic agendas which are influencing highway schemes and subsequent implementation.
