We are seeking an experienced and proactive Multi-Trade Operative to join our dedicated Maintenance Team, providing essential routine, planned, and preventative maintenance across the University of Buckingham's diverse estates. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs across the University of Buckingham Estates within multiple trade disciplines such as basic plumbing and electrical works along with carpentry, brickwork, tiling, roofing, furniture and equipment repairs.
  • Conduct estate condition surveys and produce clear, actionable reports for the Team Leader.
  • Perform both reactive and planned preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring compliance with current regulations and University standards.
  • Undertake authorised development and adaptation tasks as directed by management.
  • Work in line with Health & Safety legislation and best practices, including completing risk assessments and method statements as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including work requests, store requisitions ensuring all required documentation is completed.
  • Participate in relevant training programs to stay informed on industry developments and regulatory changes.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance operatives, external contractors, and specialist engineers to maintain the estate across all disciplines.
  • Be available for emergency call-outs, including those outside of normal working hours, as part of the standby rota.
  • Support the delivery of services for key University events, including occasional weekend work as necessary.
  • Adhere to the "one team approach," providing support and covering duties in other areas of the Estates Department as needed.
