Reception Class Teacher

Part-time Reception Teacher opportunity - 3 days per week maternity cover in Enfield

Are you an experienced and nurturing EYFS teacher seeking a rewarding part-time role in a welcoming and community-focused primary school? We are currently recruiting for a Reception Class Teacher to join a supportive Enfield school for a 3-day-a-week maternity cover, starting September 2025.

About the role

This is a job-share position, working Monday to Wednesday (although Wednesday to Friday can be considered for the right candidate). You'll share responsibility for a well-settled Reception class of 30 pupils, 24 of whom are siblings of current pupils, making this a wonderfully familiar and engaged school community.

There are no EHCPs in the class—just a handful of children with speech and language needs and typical Reception-level support requirements. The school uses Read Write Inc. (RWI) for phonics, so familiarity with this scheme is strongly preferred.

A unique feature of this role is that Wednesday morning is allocated PPA time, giving you and your job-share partner the opportunity to plan collaboratively, align approaches and ensure consistent, high-quality teaching for the children.

What we're looking for

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - unfortunately, ECTs cannot be supported for induction in this role
• Proven experience in Early Years/Foundation Stage teaching
• A warm, nurturing approach to help young learners settle into school life
• A strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum and phonics (RWI knowledge is a plus)
• A reliable and flexible attitude, with a passion for working in a collaborative environment

What we offer

• Strong, supportive leadership team and collaborative culture
• Small, friendly Reception cohort with engaged families
• Opportunities to co-plan and share ideas in a structured job-share model
• A well-resourced and caring setting that prioritises early childhood development
