Salary: £25000 - £33000/annum

Are you a reliable, hands-on individual with a passion for making a difference behind the scenes? We are working with a fantastic Special Educational Needs (SEN) school that is seeking a committed Caretaker - or Caretaking Manager, depending on experience - to join their supportive team.
The school operates across three sites: Old Trafford, Stockport, and Chadderton. You must hold a full UK driving licence, as travel between sites is part of the role. The schedule for site days will be agreed upon at interview.
Whether you're an experienced caretaker ready to step into a managerial position, or someone with solid skills and a desire to grow, full training and support will be provided to help you develop into the role - particularly if you're not quite ready to take on managerial responsibilities from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
*
Day-to-day upkeep and maintenance of the school buildings and grounds
*
Conducting basic repairs, DIY tasks, and preventative maintenance
*
Ensuring the premises are clean, safe, and secure at all times
*
Supporting the health & safety requirements of the school
*
Liaising with contractors and external services when required
*
Carrying out regular checks on equipment, fire alarms, heating, and lighting systems
*
Managing site security including unlocking/locking the school when necessary (no split shifts required)
*
Ensuring cleanliness of outdoor areas, playgrounds, and car parks
*
Assisting with the setting up of rooms for school events and activities
Requirements:
*
Full UK driving licence (essential - travel between sites is required)
*
Previous caretaking, facilities, or maintenance experience
*
Basic handyman skills: painting, minor plumbing, general repairs, etc.
*
Ability to work independently and take initiative
*
A positive, flexible attitude and a strong work ethic
*
Willingness to undergo training (if required) to develop into a managerial role
What the School Offers:
*
A welcoming and supportive team environment
*
Opportunities for career progression and CPD
*
On-the-job training and mentoring from experienced staff
*
A rewarding role within a school dedicated to supporting students with additional needs
If you're someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment and wants to be part of a truly meaningful setting - we'd love to hear from you!
