PURPOSE OF ROLE
Lawes are excited to be working with a highly regarded, independent brokerage in their search for an experienced Commercial Account Executive to take ownership of an established £2.5m GWP book. The role focuses on delivering exceptional service to Mid-Market and Corporate clients across PI, General Commercial, and Financial Institutions insurance. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven Account Executive who thrives on both client service and generating new business through referrals and networking.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and retain an existing portfolio of clients across diverse industries
- Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities (no existing book required)
- Provide strategic renewal advice and secure competitive terms
- Support Account Handlers and collaborate with senior stakeholders across the business
- Deliver a high standard of service and advice in line with regulatory and internal standards
- Assist with claims and adjustments as needed, ensuring client satisfaction throughout
- Identify cross-sell opportunities across broader insurance solutions
DAY-TO-DAY
- Work alongside a dedicated Account Handler
- Attend insurer and client meetings in person and via video as required
- Maintain accurate client records on Acturis, including renewals and reporting
- Produce clear client reports, presentations, and risk summaries
- Collaborate closely with internal teams across two UK office locations
- Engage in CPD and training programmes, including CII exam support
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Professional Indemnity insurance (essential)
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, including PI, Property, Liability, and Financial Lines
- Previous experience handling Mid-Market or Corporate clients (ideally £10m+ turnover)
- Proficiency in Acturis, including reporting and dashboards
- Exposure to Financial Institutions insurance is advantageous - training provided

- Strong relationship-building and negotiation capabilities
- High-level broking, communication, and client advisory skills
- Excellent attention to detail and document accuracy
- Confident managing renewals, presentations, and client strategies independently
- Results-driven, organised, and proactive in generating new opportunities
- Comfortable advising clients with varying levels of insurance understanding
- Technically competent and committed to continuous professional development
