Finance manager 15 hrs per week over 3 days £18.912. PA

Key Responsibilities

In conjunction with the Finance Committee provide support, advice and guidance to the Board and the Registered Manager to ensure that:

  • Rusthall Lodge correctly applies its resources in order to achieve its objects;
  • The Finance Committee and The Board make sound business decisions in accordance with Rusthall Lodge's charitable status;
  • The administration of Rusthall Lodge is economical, efficient and effective;
  • Rusthall Lodge has appropriate systems of internal control and risk management and that these work as envisaged;
  • The reputation of Rusthall Lodge and the sector as a whole is protected and enhance

Financial Management

  • Responsible for all aspects of management accounting;
  • Assist in producing and implementing financial plans both short term and long term i.e. annual budgets and long-term strategies;
  • Develop and maintain policies, systems, processes, and controls to ensure financial probity and best financial and corporate governance practice;
  • Manage the timely preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets and key performance indicators, report variances to the Registered Manager, with explanations and recommendations;
  • Make recommendations on ongoing cost reductions;
  • Facilitate and attend all meetings of the Finance and Audit Committees (unless requested by the Chairman not to attend) and the Board when invited and present financial statistics and key performance indicators in an understandable manner to committee members with explanations and recommendations where necessary


  • Control all aspects of salary payments to staff whether the payroll is dealt with in -house or outsourced. Ensure “Real Time Information” is forwarded to HMRC in a timely manner;
  • Participate in discussions regarding fee and salary levels and pension requirements;
  • Identify needs and provide training, encouragement and assistance of all staff to develop knowledge and awareness of their financial responsibilities;
  • Supervise and support the work of the Finance Officer
  • Maintain a constant review of staff salaries, benefits and terms of employment to ensure that costs are kept at the correct level commensurate with running a high-quality care home within the charity sector;
  • Produce an annual total benefits statement for each employee seeking to demonstrate the “value” of working at Rusthall Lodge;
  • Identify needs and provide training, encouragement and assistance to all staff in the finance team (which may include the committee) to develop knowledge and awareness of their financial responsibilities;
  • To work with the Registered Manager and the Deputy Manager to ensure correct staffing levels, such as monitoring annual leave throughout the year, to reduce agency costs;
  • Supervise and support the work of staff allocated to the Finance Team and ensure that any necessary recruitment for finance staff is affected
