Tennial Personnel are actively seeking a professional and customer-focused Sales Assistant on behalf of our client, a well-established and highly regarded plant nursery based in Campsea Ashe, Suffolk.

This is a temporary position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate, offering an hourly rate of £12.21 to £13.00 per hour, depending on experience.

The role is primarily for Saturdays, with the potential for one additional weekday subject to agreement, and would suit an individual with a genuine interest in horticulture, outdoor-grown plants, and customer service. The position plays an important role in supporting visitors during nursery opening hours, ensuring customers receive clear guidance, accurate plant-related information, and a positive experience.

Please note, this role will not be required during the summer period, when the nursery is closed on Saturdays.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide customer support on Saturdays, approximately 10:00am - 4:00pm

Professionally meet and greet customers, offering initial assistance and directing them to the appropriate service or team member

Clearly explain the nursery's operation and offering, including confirming that it is a growing nursery rather than a retail garden centre

Assist with answering incoming telephone calls and managing basic customer enquiries

Maintain a tidy, well-presented sales and plant display environment during quieter periods

Support general nursery tasks as required when customer activity is low

Remain flexible in working hours to meet customer demand, with all additional hours worked fully paid

Skills Required

A foundational level of plant knowledge, specifically relating to outdoor-grown plants

Willingness to learn and develop horticultural knowledge

Comfortable learning and accurately using botanical plant names

Flexible and adaptable approach to work, able to respond to varying customer demand

Comfortable working in a nursery and outdoor environment

Strong face-to-face and telephone customer service skills

Qualifications Required
Previous experience in a customer-facing role is advantageous

An interest in horticulture or plant production is desirable

Availability to provide occasional weekday cover, by agreement
