Auto Transport Dispatcher

JOB TYPE: Permanent, FullTime

We have multiple positions available on our Dispatch Team. These positions range from an entry level trainee to a senior dispatcher. The Dispatcher will oversee all dispatch operations in the assigned territory, provide updates as needed on transports; provide peer support for other territories; handle phone calls, electronic correspondence and perform related work as assigned. Work closely with clients and drivers on freight management. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage trucks and drivers in the assigned territory Ensure there is sufficient truck capacity in the territory for current and upcoming freight. Ensure all freight is moving as quickly, efficiently and profitably as possible Identify, research, and resolve customer issues using our computer system and problem solving. Act as a representative for drivers to ensure compliance during transport movement and scheduling. Assist with maintaining effective daily dispatch log process Improving driver efficiencies and performance in assigned territories Act as a mediator during conflict resolution in support of the Company’s mission. Follow-up on customer inquiries not immediately resolved. Work to keep trucks loaded for as many miles as possible while minimizing empty miles Work in conjunction with other key departments within the company to contribute to established goals Provide daily updates to the Dispatch and Fleet Managers to include: Available freight Available trucks Trucks with issues Drivers taking time off Drivers that are or have taken extended time off Drivers that are not returning calls Trucks in each territory that are parked Trucks that are in or going into the shop for repairs by territory All required reporting for assigned territory Assist in other territories as needed Working with sales on quotes and RFQ’s to ensure we are taking freight that will move timely and profitably while quoting a reasonable rate. Update existing orders; notations as needed Recommend process improvements Additional Responsibilities Cross train and assist other team members and/or departments as needed Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS Problem solving skills a must Be able to solve problems quickly and creatively. Basic reading, writing, arithmetic skills required. Word, Excel & Outlook experience required. Computer literate with the ability to learn customer service software applications. Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills Ability to type 40 wpm minimum; data entry experience. 1-3 years office experience required. Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Must be extremely organized. High attention to detail is a must.
