Milk Education are working on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Newcastle to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist autism provision for primary-aged children. This is a full-time role starting ASAP.

This specialist setting supports primary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment where pupils are supported academically, socially and emotionally through tailored learning approaches.

The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Autism

Support communication using visual timetables, PECS or Makaton (training can be provided)

Assist pupils with emotional regulation and sensory needs

Promote positive behaviour strategies in line with school policy

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families

Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:

Has experience supporting children with Autism (in school, care or support settings)

Is patient, resilient and empathetic

Demonstrates a proactive and flexible approach

Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff

Relevant qualifications in Teaching Assistant support, childcare, psychology or related fields are desirable but not essential.
