Are you an Assistant Financial Accountant who enjoys getting stuck into year-end? Do you want to play a key role in preparing financial statements within a complex group structure? Are you comfortable stepping into a busy finance team during a period of significant change?
A large Housing provider is seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to join their team on an interim basis during a crucial period that includes year-end preparation, go-live of a new finance system, and wider finance transformation. Working within a collaborative financial accounting team, you will take ownership of supporting the preparation of statutory accounts for certain entities within the group structure, helping ensure a smooth and well-managed year-end process and the ongoing business as usual of reconciliations and month end procedures for those entities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the preparation of statutory financial statements for entities within the group structure.
- Producing reconciliations, journals and supporting schedules required for year-end reporting.
- Assisting with the preparation of working papers and responding to audit queries.
- Maintaining strong balance sheet controls and investigating variances where required.
- Supporting the team through a period of finance change, including system implementation and structural changes within the finance function.
- Contributing to the overall delivery of a timely and well-organised year-end process.
This assignment offers the chance to gain hands-on experience in a complex group environment within the Housing sector while working alongside experienced financial accountants during a critical period for the organisation. It will suit someone who enjoys technical accounting work and can quickly add value in a busy team.
To be considered, please meet these criteria:
- Experience supporting the preparation of financial statements and year-end processes.
- Strong reconciliation and balance sheet control experience.
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced finance team during a period of change.
- Part-qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or equivalent experience.
- Experience within Housing, Not-for-Profit or a complex group structure is advantageous.
This is a 4–6 month interim assignment (potential to go permanent) based in London, with hybrid working (two days per week on site). If you are available at short notice and enjoy playing a key role in delivering a successful year-end, we would be keen to hear from you.
