Mechanical Compliance and Repair Surveyor - Annual Salary: £30 to £40 per hour via Umbrella

Join our Housing Services team within the Neighbourhoods Directorate as a Mechanical Compliance and Repair Surveyor. This role is crucial in ensuring that all council homes are safe and compliant with legal and safety standards, particularly in mechanical systems like heating and water. You will also play a key role in improving service delivery and supporting residents in understanding home safety.
Day-to-day of the role: - Provide expert advice on mechanical safety and compliance.
- Lead on enforcing safety laws and regulations.
- Respond to service requests promptly and maintain high standards.
- Support residents and colleagues with complex safety issues.
- Stay updated with laws and best practices in mechanical safety.
- Ensure all safety data is accurate and up-to-date.
- May manage a team or collaborate across departments.
- Promote equality, diversity, and continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Oversee mechanical safety services, including Legionella risk management and mechanical repairs.
- Manage a £1 million annual budget for mechanical services.
- Work closely with residents to enhance their understanding of safety in their homes.
- Ensure compliance with all legal safety requirements and be a part of the leadership team for building safety.
Required Skills & Qualifications: - Qualification in mechanical safety (e.g., HNC in Construction) or a background in Gas Engineering or Heat Pump installation/repair.
- Experience in housing and surveying is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of safety laws and regulations.
- Experience with inspections and compliance in housing.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Good planning and priority-setting skills.
- Analytical skills to understand and compare detailed information.
- Problem-solving skills, with a focus on finding solutions.
- People management skills, able to lead and motivate effectively.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car (mileage allowance provided).
